It really does take a village.
First and foremost, on behalf of everyone here, I’d like to congratulate Jayda and Isabella on a job well done! You’ve endured the valleys of of this journey and have reached the peak of this chapter in your life. And if I might add, you’ve done it with both grace and elegance and we couldn’t be more proud of you two!
I suppose I could stand here and shower you both with glowing comments, but as parents I like to think we do that everyday. If we don’t tell you how awesome you are or how grateful we are to have you in our lives, then it’s probably because we’re too busy showing you.
So, if you don’t mind, I’d like to shine the light on the village for it’s the village who helped to get you here. That’s right, our mentors, our teachers, our friends and families.
I’d like to extend a huge thank you to the Nicole’s and the Gabby’s, the Marena’s, Isaiah’s and Natalie’s, the Dalton’s and the Sam’s.
Brothers and Sisters are special though we may not always realize that as we navigate along side one another in this dance we call life.
Pain in the asses yes, but special nevertheless. I came across a quote not too long ago about brothers and sisters that read,
Brothers can read your mind, hear your heart and love you just the way you are. Sisters on the other hand, can read your mind, hear your heart and love you just the way you are.
We are blessed to have them in our lives. Thank you!
I’d like to extend a huge thank you to the Hope’s and the Mel’s, Todd’s and Daniel’s, Keara’s and Kiesa’s, Misty’s and Shaffae’s and of course the Positively Jessica’s.
Friends are the family we get to choose. They are there for us to hold space and get us through the toughest of times, as well as laugh along side us as we enjoy the joys of life. There’s no doubt that life would be bland without them. So we thank you for being the spice in our lives.
I’d also like to expand our deepest gratitude to the Rachel’s and the Jon’s, the Robin’s, George’s and Jen’s, and the fabulous Loreen’s and Evan’s. Grandparents are a little bit parent, a little bit teacher and little bit best friend.
We thank you for all your assistance along the way. You’re our manuals to parenthood, and none of this would be possible without your warmth, light and love. And to Isabella and Jayda, if you’ve ever wondered why you get along with your grandparents so well, it’s because you have a common enemy:-)
But seriously, thank you for all that you do for all of us.
I’d like to lengthen our gratitude to the Derek’s and Erica’s. Behind a lot of great kids is a step parent who stepped up and stepped in. You both exemplify that parenthood doesn’t always require DNA, but just some good old fashion love.
On behalf of Jessica and I, we thank you for going above and beyond your call of duty and for showing up because you want to, not because you have to (Ok, you sort of have to).
Finally, I’d like to thank the James’ and Jessica’s, Steve’s and the Erica’s. Though it may not always be pretty and we may not always agree, there’s no doubt that all of us still do the damn thing. And we do it well! We’ve shown our kids it’s possible to move from romantic love to what I believe is true love—the wanting of happiness for each other no matter what. And it is so very evident our kids our a product of that love.
So Isabella and Jayda, take a look around. This is your village. I know I appreciate them and I hope you do, too. We love you and are so very proud of you both.
Here’s to High School! That’s right, we’re not out of the woods yet! Should be interesting:)
To Isabella and Jayda!
